IPL 2019: Riyan Parag becomes youngest to score 50 in IPL - meet the 5 youngest half-centurions over the years

The 12th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is almost reaching the end. Chennai Super Kings, Delhi Capitals and Mumbai Indians have already qualified for the playoffs and one more team is yet to be added to the top four.

While the IPL has given rise to new kinds of shots, new records and a new type of cricket - many young cricketers are making their mark this season.

In the ongoing IPL match between Delhi Capitals and Rajasthan Royals - Riyan Parag who is 17years and 175days old has become the youngest cricketer in the IPL to score a fifty.

Here is the list of other players who became the youngest cricketer to score their maiden IPL 50.

Ishant Sharma and Amit Mishra snared three wickets apiece to help Delhi Capitals restrict Rajasthan Royals to 115 for nine in their final league match of the ongoing IPL in Delhi on Saturday. 

However, the match saw Young Riyan Parag of RR became the youngest player at 17 years and 175 days to score a fifty in IPL.

Parag (50 off 49, 4x4s, 2x6s) was the lone bright spot for Rajasthan as he held on to one fort and notched up his maiden IPL fifty to take the visitors close to the 120-run mark.

Sanju Samson of Rajasthan Royals played his second match for the team against Royal Challengers Bangalore on 29 April 2013.

Rajasthan Royals were chasing a tough target of 172 when Sanju has promoted up the batting order to No.3. His 63 off 41 balls helped lay the foundation for RR' victory. He won the Man-of-the-match award for his performance.

With that half-century, he became the youngest player to score a half-century in an IPL match. 

He was 18 years and 169 days when he achieved this feat.

Bought by Delhi Daredevils in the 2018 IPL, Prithvi Shaw became the youngest player to open the batting in the Indian Premier League history at the age of 18 and 165 days.

On 27 April 2018, he notched up his first IPL fifty against the Kolkata Knight Riders and went on to become the joint youngest player to score an IPL fifty along with Sanju Samson (in 18 years and 169 days). 

His knock of 62 runs helped Delhi Daredevils secure a comfortable 55-run victory against KKR.

Rishabh Pant was bought by Delhi Daredevils on 6 February 2016. 

Playing only his third game of his IPL season, Pant made 69 runs from 40 balls to help Delhi to an eight-wicket victory over Gujarat Lions. 

He made his maiden IPL half-century off 25 balls. He was just 18years and 212 days old.

Shubman Gill of Kolkata Knight Riders reached his maiden IPL 50 off 32 balls with five fours and two sixes.

At 18years and 237 days, Gill anchored Kolkata Knight Riders' chase of 178 against Chennai Super Kings.
