No one had thought that a simple plan to go for movies would turn into a colossal tragedy for a group of 10 friends in Noida. Four students of the Galgotia University died while six others were injured when the tyre of their SUV burst and the vehicle hit a divider.

The deceased were identfied as Salman, 22, Tushar, 22, Ayush, 19, and Bal Ram, 20. Police said the Xlyo car belonged to Dhiraj Gupta, a government employee and uncle of Tushar, who was behind the wheels. The car, being driven at a speed of over 100km per hour, turned turtle barely metres from the university.

Tushar was living with his uncle in Greater Noida. Gupta, who works as a supply officer at Dankaur Block, had gone to his village in Etah and had left the car at home.

Speaking to DNA, one of the survivors, Sharif, said they were all supposed to meet for lunch, before going for a movie at Ansal Plaza.

"All of us were meeting for lunch. So, Tushar called us up and said he had taken his uncle's car and was coming to the university. Later, we all decided to go out for a movie. Tushar came to the university gate number around 1.50 pm and all of us headed towards Pari Chowk," he said.

Hardly, half a kilometer from the university, Tushar tried to overtake a truck but the front right side tyre burst and the car toppled thrice, with everyone falling off it."Tushar was driving really fast. I, along with others, even warned him. Then on reaching the Noida International University (NIU) cut, he tried to overtake a truck, but the tyre burst and the car collided with a divider. After collision, it toppled on the road thrice and we fell out of of windows," Sharif added.

A friend of Tushar's, Krishna, said: "Tushar called me and another friend Varun to reach Pari Chowk. We had plans to visit Ansal Plaza in Greater Noida and watch a movie. As we reached Pari Chowk, Simran, who was injured, called us and informed us about the accident."
