The UPSC exam is renowned as one of the toughest examinations in India, demanding rigorous preparation and dedication from aspirants. While numerous aspirants may require 3-4 attempts to clear the UPSC exam, some exceptional individuals manage to crack it on their very first attempt.

Suchiter Sharma is a resident of Salehar village, nine km far from Bishnah in Jammu district. As soon as Sharma’s class 12th board exam was over, he started preparing for the UPSC exam. As a result, he cracked the UPSC Civil Service Examination in his very first attempt when he was just 22, becoming the youngest IRS officer in the nation.

Sharma completed his class 12th from Army Public School Ratanuchak. After school, he decided to prepare for the country’s toughest exam. He pursued his college degree from GGM Science College.

According to a report of News18, Sharma, a dedicated student used to travel at least 50 to 60 km daily for his college. Even after a long day at college, he would diligently attend UPSC coaching sessions, further showcasing his ambition and drive to excel in his chosen field.

During the COVID-19 lockdown in 2020, Suchiter worked hard towards achieving his goals. As almost everyone was at home and had time to spare during the lockdown, Sharma made effective use of this time to prepare rigorously to fulfill his dream of being a civil servant.

His hard work finally paid off as he cracked the UPSC exam within 6 days of completing his graduation and became an IRS (IT) officer. His All India Rank (AIR) was 146 and also emerged as the youngest IRS officer of his batch.

Suchiter Sharma's father Madan Lal Sharma and mother Ritu Mangotra are both teachers. His cousin, Prayasi Sharma, who is a respected IAS officer, has always been an inspirational figure in his life.
