The Congress Party on Monday released its list of 57 candidates for the second phase of upcoming Assam Assembly elections.

Motiur Rahman Mondal will be fighting from Mankachar, Ashim Hasda will fight from Gossaigaon, Niren Deka will contest from Jalukbari, Indrajit Kumar Saikia will fight from Kalaigaon, Nazrul Islam from Laharighat, Gautam Bora from Batadroba, Ardhendu Kumar Dey from Hojai, Rakibul Hussain from Samaguri, Anowar Hussain from Dhing and Dulu Ahmed from Hajo assembly seats respectively.

The Congress released its first list of 65 candidates on March 15. In Assam, polling for the first phase of polls will be held on April 4 in 65 seats. The scrutiny of nomination papers will be held on March 19, while March 21 is the last date of withdrawal of nominations.

Assam has a total of one crore 98 lakh voters. The Election Commission has announced two-phase voting for the 14th Assam assembly elections on April 4 and 11, while the votes will be counted on May19. The tenure of the Tarun Gogoi Government comes to an end in June.
