National Security Adviser AK Doval had a secret meeting with Pakistani counterpart  Lt Gen (retd) Naseer Khan Janjua in second week of January in Paris, reports The Hindustan Times. The meeting took place soon after the Pathankot terror attack on January 2 carried out by Pakistan based terrorist group Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM).

Doval was in Paris to meet President Francois Hollande who was the chief guest for the Republic Day parade. By then, India had the taped evidence showing JeM's involvement in the attack.

"Doval made it clear that Pakistan needed to take effective action against the terror group before the foreign secretaries could meet to take the composite dialogue forward," a senior official said. Doval and Janjua are in constant touch regarding the probe in the attack case.

The Pathankot terror attack took place on January 2 just a week after PM Narendra Modi made a surprise stopover in Pakistan to meet PM Nawaz Sharif in Lahore.

Pakistani investigators wanted to come to India to inspect the site of the Pathankot terror attack.

India is yet to receive a formal communication from Pakistan about a proposed visit by a team of investigators from that country to inspect the site of the Pathankot terror attack, a senior government official said on Monday.

Seven security personnel were killed when suspected terrorists of Pakistan-based Jaish-e-Mohammad stormed the Pathankot airbase on January 2.
