In addition to the Northeast and Northwestern areas, the forecast also calls for high levels of rainfall in Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal, and Jharkhand during the week of June 30 to July 6.
Predicting anomalous rainfall for the next month, the Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology (IITM), located in Pune, released its four-week forecast on Monday.
With a few outliers, this thorough forecast shows that most of India will experience a favourable monsoon season.
In addition to the Northeast and Northwestern areas, the forecast also calls for high levels of rainfall in Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal, and Jharkhand during the week of June 30 to July 6.
It's also anticipated that Rajasthan and Gujarat will see more rain than usual during this time. In a similar vein, above-average rains are predicted for the entire western coast of the Arabian Sea. But there's a good chance that some areas of Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, and Kerala will see less rain than usual.
There will be heavy rainfall throughout, albeit less intensely, the week of July 7–13. It is expected that the northern states—Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand—will experience rainfall that is above average.
Along with the western coast, this pattern also applies to parts of Maharashtra, Telangana, Odisha, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and Uttar Pradesh. On the other hand, less rain is predicted for the Northeastern states, as well as for some areas of Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh.
The forecast calls for above-average rainfall in Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Punjab, Delhi, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan, and Gujarat during the third week, which starts on July 14 and ends on July 20. Rainfall in Jharkhand and the Northeast states may be below average during this time, but only in certain areas.
In the meantime, a belt that crisscrosses Bihar, West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Haryana, and Uttarakhand and stretches from the Northeastern states to Punjab is expected to see above-average rainfall during the week of July 21–27.
Rainfall in Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, and along the western coast is expected to increase. It is anticipated that the remaining areas will see typical rainfall.
