Weather Update: IMD predicts heavy showers in Delhi-NCR, several states till this day; check full forecast

The national capital of Delhi and its surrounding areas received heavy spells of showers on Wednesday, offering a respite for the Delhiites from the humidity.

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), areas of Delhi, Noida, Ghaziabad, Meerut, Baghpat and other West UP regions are predicted to receive moderate to heavy rainfall today.

IMD also issued a ‘Yellow’ alert for the national capital for the next two days, and an ‘Orange alert’ for Haryana and Punjab for today predicting heavy spells of showers.

The maximum and minimum temperatures of Delhi will likely vary around 36 and 27 degrees Celsius.

The Delhi-NCR region witnessed a variation in weather as heavy rains lashed parts of the region. Delhi recorded a maximum temperature of 36.2 degrees Celsius, 1.3 notches above normal.

IMD added that Monday’s rain was by high temperatures during the day and the incursion of moisture from a western disturbance in northwest India.

The weather agency has also predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall in the North Goa and South Goa districts, Konkan region and Gujarat.

“Heavy to very heavy rainfall with extremely heavy falls (≥ 20 cm) very likely at isolated places over Konkan & Goa, Madhya Maharashtra and Gujarat state.” 

IMD has also forecasted heavy rainfall at areas over Jammu-Kashmir-Ladakh-Gilgit-BaltistanMuzaffarabad, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, West Uttar Pradesh, Vidarbha, Jharkhand, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam & Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura, Kerala & Mahe, Coastal Karnataka and South Interior Karnataka.
