A YOUTHFUL LOOK
Denims are a universal favourite and this thigh-high footwear version comes across as youthful and glamorous. They keep your feet warm and are easy to blend. Made of sturdy fabric, this is a great option in cold climes. Anyone from a student to a 40-year-old woman can sport it, opines fashion designer Shruti Sancheti giving it a thumbs up.
WEARING IT RIGHT
Denims look good on everyone. However, in the case of denim thigh-high boots, one should have great legs to carry them off, says stylist Isha Bhansali, adding that it should fit snugly on the thighs. Choose the boot length appropriately — they shouldn’t look too tall when compared to your height. And they can be worn for a night out and clubbing, but not for a formal occasion or at a fine dining place.
Fashion designer Nachiket Barve feels, “They will look good on an edgy girl, someone with a skinny frame. It will add bulk to someone who is curvy. If one is petite, it can appear to drown the person. Also, it would suit a millennial girl and not someone older as it may seem like that person is trying too hard.” He also adds that one needs to keep in mind the proportion of the shirt that will be paired with the boots.
NOT SUITED FOR HOT WEATHER
Since we face hot and humid weather, this fashion accessory is not feasible for everyday wear. However, for a night out, photo shoot or on the runway, they suit just fine.
DURABILITY AND MAINTENANCE
Sending them for professional dry cleaning every now and then can prove to be expensive and not eco-friendly. Instead, Nachiket recommends wearing denim-inspired leather booties as they match the look and are easier to maintain. On the other hand, Shruti rates denim thigh-high boots higher than the ones made from suede or leather, as the latter require more care. Also, since denim is a sturdy fabric, folding them won’t cause creases.
