Let us be fair and just accept the fact that a wedding is all about the bride! Every girl secretly keeps making mental notes about what she wants in her wedding, irrespective of whether she has met her Mr Right or not. The one thing that all brides seek is to look their best on D-day!

Priya Kapur resides in the uptown locality of Juhu. Exposed to a lot of diverse cultures and influences since childhood, Kapur started at an early age. A dynamic aesthetician and a respected hair and make-up designer, she has styled for some of the biggest magazines, events, and fashion shows in India. Developing on her natural flair as a stylist, she acquired proficiency in her craft through several courses and training programs.

Kapur published her book Bridal Diaries earlier this year. A handbook for a bride-to-be, Kapur dwells on different topics, ranging from health, fitness and diet to bridal back-ups, bloopers, different makeup for different face shapes and more such wedding preparation essentials. The latter part of the book covers nothing less than 35 looks which a bride-to-be could refer to for her sangeet, cocktail, wedding, and reception.

The idea to pen down all these essentials was born out of the need to provide a methodical step-by-step approach to planning a bride-to-be’s special day, months or even days before her wedding. This coffee table book authored by Kapur is for those who do not want to leave any stone unturned to look their best on their big occasion.

“With the bridal market growing every minute, all over the world, and also with the innumerable options available, today’s bride, though certain and aware of what she wants, still needs a helping hand to take it further methodically.

Bridal Diaries is a conversational, generic guide which aids a bride’s journey making it simpler through each passing chapter, whether it is on bridal backups for the wedding day or what to do 6 to 3 to 1 month prior to the wedding. This ready reckoner acts as a friend till your wedding and even after, as a diary to look back and enjoy the wedding memories,” says Kapur.

When we asked her about how a bride-to-be should go about with her style regime, Kapur said, “It begins with a consulting session, a one-on-one meeting, where we discuss all the details regarding the wedding, starting from the venue to the theme.

After the consultation and once you are ready with your outfit and accessories for the wedding, there is a trial almost like a grand look rehearsal of your D-day. After all the other functions are discussed in detail, we know we are ready for a smooth sailing wedding day.”

A stylist is someone who works in close association with the bride, then how does she handle the ‘bridezillas’? She says, “Being a bridal stylist is like being an acting psychiatrist. Our job is to stay calm yet firm and make the bride look like a princess, regardless the drama.”
