The decision on the waiver of fee for the organisers of Mumbai Marathon has been deferred. The civic standing committee on Wednesday sent back the proposal demanding a waiver to the administration saying that they would take a decision once the balance sheet of the organisers is shown to them.

The state government has written to the BMC asking it to waive the fee of Rs1.88 crore imposed on Procam for the work carried out for the event. “We can’t take a decision without knowing whether the company is making profit or loss. If there are profits, they should share it with BMC,’’ said corporator Ashish Shelar of BJP.

Additional municipal commissioner RA Rajeev said that the administration had asked Procam to submit its balance sheet, but it refused.

“Moreover, we had given the bill only after standing committee members demanded it last year. The organisers then had said that no such thing was known earlier. But this time we have told them in advance about the licence fees for advertising,’’ he said.
