Are you a foodie and can eat a copious amount of food in one sitting? Well, for your treat, an Indian restaurant in England is serving, what it calls the 'Grand Thali' but with a challenge. The restaurant, Lily's Vegetarian Indian Cuisine's 'Grand Thali's is serving nearly 50 dishes on a  24-inch platter and has a combined weight of seven kilograms. The challenge is to finish the entire platter in one hour.

The restaurant, situated in Ashton, Greater Manchester, is serving nearly eight varieties of chapati, three types of rice, 16 curries and sabzi, three dips in addition to 6 desserts, 2 lassis, and 2 savoury snacks. The thali is priced at £35 (Rs 3,611).

Meanwhile, three foodies took the challenge on August 4 but failed to win. A regular at the restaurant, 9-year-old Josh Sanders was a favourite to win the challenge but only managed to eat three kilograms' worth of food. His other contenders, Tom Eastham and Leigh Drennan also failed to win the challenge.

Taking to Facebook, Drennan said, “Thanks to everyone who sent encouragement and support today. We didn't quite manage today's Thali challenge at Lily's Vegetarian Indian Cuisine, but Andy Western and I beat the previous record and put in a good showing. Probably won't eat for a few days now. It was absolutely delicious. Absolutely no food went to waste by the way.”

The owner of the restaurant, Pritil Sachdev said he came up with the one day, when he was sitting in the restaurant. "It's the first challenge we have done but we thought it would be a good bit of fun," Sachdev was quoted as saying.
