Recognised by the Guinness World Records as the oldest living man on earth, Yasutaro Koide died on January 19, 2016 at the age of 112 due to chronic heart failure.

Here are some facts about the 112-year-old:

1. On August 20, 2015, Guinness World Records recognised Yasutaro Koide as the oldest person living (male) at the age of 112 years and 161 days. He hails from Japan.

2. He worked as a tailor for a men's clothes store in Tsuruga, Fukui.

3. At the age of 107, he moved to Nagoya Aichi in Japan to stay with his daughter.

4. He regularly attended a day care centre in Japan and his health was perfectly fine even after being so old.

5. He used to walk properly when at home otherwise used a wheelchair.

6. His teeth were strong and never had to use dentures to eat. 

7. He read newspaper without glasses.  

8. He was a non-smoker and a non-alcoholic and his favourite food was bread.

9. He avoided stress. "He was very stubborn, but he got nicer with age." said his grand daughter to a local newspaper.

10. "The best thing is to not overdo", said Yasutaro to AP.
