Chennai Metro Rail now has tourist travel cards and toilets at all stations

All metro stations that are under construction in the city will have toilets in the paid areas so that only commuters will have access to them. There are public toilets that exist for use by the public.

Chennai Metro Rail has launched a new tourist travel card where a person can buy a card for Rs 100 (Rs50 refundable) and takes as many rides in 24 hours as they wish. This is in addition to the three trip passes they have currently —12 trips  with seven day validity, 50 trips valid for 30 days and 100 trips valid for 60 days.

The Union urban development ministry has also instructed that metros across the country need to have toilets on the premises. The Chennai Metro Rail Limited has included toilets in the new stations that are coming up across the city. According to a report in the Deccan Chronicle, travellers can access the toilets in some stations only after accessing the paid area (swiping the rail card or buying ticket). The Ekkatunthangal, Alandur and Arumbakkam stations have toilets in the paid area. However, the toilets in the metro stations at Ashok Pillar, CMBT, Koyambedu and Vadapalani are in the unpaid area.
