Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi had made a big allegation in Lok Sabha that for the government, Agniveers are just 'use and throw labour', that is, for the government, Agniveers are just labourers, on whom its policy is 'use and throw'.

Rahul Gandhi had alleged that after the martyrdom of Agniveers, their families do not get anything from the government, they are left to fend for themselves. Today, we have fact-checked this. We have spoken to the father of martyr Ajay Kumar. Rahul posted a video on social media in which he called the Defence Minister a liar. In the same post, he also shared the statement of martyr Ajay Kumar's father and the video of his meeting with the family. The video showed Kumar's father saying that he didn't receive any compensation from the Indian Army or the central government.

When Rahul made two back-to-back allegations, the Indian Army issued a statement, clarifying that Agniveer Ajay Kumar's family has been paid Rs 98.39 lakh. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh also re-posted the statement of ADGPI. The Army said - The Indian Army salutes the supreme sacrifice of Agniveer Ajay Kumar.

  • Agniveer Ajay Kumar was cremated with full military honours.
  • Rs 98.39 lakh has already been paid to his family.
  • Rs 67 lakh will be given soon. The total amount will be around Rs 1.65 crore.

Agniveer Ajay Singh was martyred in a landmine blast in the Nowshera sector of Rajouri on 23 January. The video of Agniveer's family that Rahul Gandhi shared is of May 29, when the Congress MP was on election campaign in Ludhiana. He met this family during that time. The statement of the martyr's father Charanjit is also from that time.

But a new statement has now come out, in which Charanjit is proving the Indian Army right and Rahul Gandhi's claim wrong. Questions were raised on Rahul's speech that day, a demand was made for an investigation whether his intention was to deliberately mislead the country. When Zee News asked Congress leader Pramod Tiwari a question on this factual mistake, he was seen getting angry.
