Many superstars like Rajinikanth, Shah Rukh Khan and others had their share of struggles before they made it big in the film industry and living a luxurious life. Another star who revived career of many actors, became a star, once used to iron clothes of actors.

The star we are talking about has the most number of 100-crore films and has created two franchises which are a hit at the box office. He is none other than Bollywood's ace filmmaker Rohit Shetty.

Rohit Shetty is the son of veteran actor and stunt performer MB Shetty. The filmmaker started his journey as an assistant director at the age of 17, after his father’s death put his family into a financial crisis. When he worked as an AD under the filmmaker Kuku Kohli, his salary was just Rs 35. To save money, he would often walk from his home to the set.

While promoting his film Cirkus, the filmmaker revealed, “People think that since I’m from the film industry it must have been easy for me. When I started working, I used to get just Rs 35. Many times it happened that I had to choose between food and travel. Sometimes, I had to miss food and sometimes travel.”

He even used to walk for 2 hours to reach the set to save money. Rohit Shetty remarked that he used iron sarees for actor Tabu on the sets. He also worked as a spot boy for Kajol years ago, reports News18. Not only this, he also revealed that he once worked as Akshay Kumar’s stung double when he started his career.

However, now he has become one of the richest and most successful directors in Bollywood. From Shah Rukh Khan to Akshay Kumar, the actor has directed all and even made saved career of many actors by giving them chance to be in his hits.

Rohit Shetty has made 15 films so far with the 16th set to release this year. Of these, 12 have been box office successes and nine of them have grossed over Rs 100 crore. No other Indian director has as many films in the 100-crore club as Rohit. Though his last release Cirkus failed at the box office, his upcoming film is one of the most anticipated film of the year. The filmmaker’s Singham Again, fifth film in his cop universe, starring Ajay Devgn, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Deepika Padukone, Tiger Shroff, Ranveer Singh and Arjun Kapoor in key roles, is set to release this Diwali.

The filmmaker reportedly charges Rs 25-30 crore per film and has a reported net worth of Rs 300 crore. The filmmaker is also the host of stunt-based reality show Khatron Ke Khiladi for which he reportedly charges Rs 50 lakh per episode. He is one of the richest filmmakers in India.
