Before earning her economics degree from Wellesley College, Ayesha Thapar attended Delhi's Modern School. She works as the Managing Director of Indian City Properties Limited, a massive real estate company. Ayesha Thapar is descended from a distinguished line of businessmen, starting with her grandfather, the renowned business magnate Karam Chand Thapar.
The Thapar family's coal-trading business amassed enormous wealth through a variety of ventures in the fields of trading, real estate (Indian City Properties), textiles (JCT Limited), and education. At one point, they also owned the Oriental Bank of Commerce. Currently leading the KCT Group are Ayesha's brother Varun Thapar and father Vikram Thapar. Ayesha is a successful businesswoman in her own right, not just a business scion. She once said that, since she was twelve years old, she had wanted to start her own business. Ayesha was once a model. As a businesswoman, she has started a jewellery line and several fashion labels, including Sansaar. In Miami, she also owned a telecom company.
