On Tuesday, cricketer Mohammed Shami was granted bail by the Alipore court on a bail bond of two thousand rupees. Shami physically appeared before the Alipore ACJM court in Kolkata and successfully obtained bail. The case against Shami and some of his family members was initiated based on the FIR filed by Hasin Jahan at the Jadavpur police station in 2018.

Previously, the court had instructed Shami to appear and obtain bail. In 2018, Shami's ex-wife, Hasin Jahan, accused him of domestic violence and filed a case in a lower court.

This was the first time Mohammed Shami appeared in court regarding the bride torture case. He appeared on Tuesday, September 19, just before the World Cup 2023, which is scheduled to begin on October 5. Shami applied for bail, and the judge granted his plea, resulting in his release.

On August 23, the Alipur Additional Sessions Judge ruled that there was no necessary reason to summon Shami in response to Hasin's complaint. Therefore, he was not required to appear in court at that time. However, within the next 30 days, Shami will need to apply to the trial court for further proceedings in this case.

During this period, Shami has the option to apply for bail, which will be decided by the trial court in accordance with the law. Following this order, Shami appeared in court and was granted bail.
