Former Indian skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni may have hung his boot in international cricket, his days in the Chennai Super Kings yellow are still not over and the franchise and its CEO sees the captain, the legend playing for another year or two. Dhoni, who confirmed in CSK's last game in the 2020 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) that it 'definitely wasn't' his last game in the IPL, led CSK's turnaround in the interrupted 2021 edition where the franchise won 5 out of the seven games they played.

Talking about the legendary leader, who turned 40 on Wednesday, and his future with the side to the news agency IANS, CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan said, "He can continue for another one or two years with CSK. He is fully fit, trains a lot. Don`t see any reason why he should stop."

Dhoni may not be the same force with the bat as he let the likes of Ravindra Jadeja, Sam Curran, Moeen Ali take the onus with the bat ahead of him, the captain cool still remains a threat to be reckoned with behind the stumps and as far as captaincy and his tactics on the field are concerned. Dhoni will continue to lead the three-time champions in the remaining matches of the 2021 edition of the IPL, which will take place in the UAE in September-October.

“As far we are concerned, we are happy for what he is doing for CSK. It is not just about his captaincy or the fact that he is guide or a leader as the most experienced player. We feel he is still good and brings value as a player to the side. He has been a finisher and is doing that for us,” added Viswanathan.

As Mr IPL Suresh Raina came back and the promotion of all-rounder Moeen Ali worked wonders for the CSK, the men in yellow, who were struggling to chase the scores of 160-170 last year became the beasts in the middle-order and were consistently putting up scorer in excess of 190-200, which was one of the big reasons of turning their fortunes around in the 14th edition of the IPL.
