When actresses rejected films in which he would play the lead

Yes, Shailesh R. Singh, the producer of the film Tanu Weds Manu, made a shocking revelation in one of his interviews. According to the News 18 report, he mentioned that they reached out to many actresses before approaching Kangana, but all of them turned down the offer because they did not want to work with Madhavan. Some actresses even stated that they would only agree to the role if the lead actor were changed.

Madhavan shared a personal story similar to a scene from the movie 3 Idiots. He recalled a serious talk he had with his disappointed father. Madhavan admitted that he failed the 8th grade because he got only 39% in math. He said, “I wasn’t a good student, which upset my parents. They wanted me to get married and work at Tata Steel, living in the same house as my father. I remember my parents were heartbroken. My dad isn’t usually emotional, but one day we walked along the railway track after the last engineering college rejected my application. He had tears in his eyes and asked, ‘What did I do wrong with you?’ I replied, ‘Dad, I don’t know what I’ll become, but I know I don’t want to do your job. If I sit at a desk for 30 years, I might end up hurting someone. That’s not for me. All I can promise is I won’t let you down.’”

When R Madhavan didn’t get work for 4 years

In an interview with Film Companion, Madhavan expressed a 'constant fear' regarding his film Rocketry. He shared, “I have a son. There was Covid. I didn’t earn anything during Covid. Even two years before Covid, I didn’t earn anything because I was working on this film. The only things that sustained me were occasional opportunities like my OTT project (Netflix's Decoupled) to keep things going. Other than that, I haven’t done any films since my last one, Vikram Vedha. So, there’s fear, a constant fear.”
