Weather update: IMD issues orange alert for Delhi, UP, Maharashtra amid heavy rainfall; check details

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted very heavy rainfall in Delhi, Chandigarh, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, and other states over the next few days. On Friday, the IMD issued an orange alert for these regions.

Arunachal Pradesh is under a red alert today due to expected very heavy to extremely heavy rainfall.

The Regional Meteorological Department (RMC) in Delhi has issued an orange alert for June 29 and 30, predicting a generally cloudy sky with moderate to heavy rain or thunderstorms accompanied by gusty winds (speed 30-40 kmph).

Isolated very heavy rainfall is anticipated in Konkan and Goa, and Madhya Maharashtra over the next five days, according to the IMD. Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand are expected to experience isolated very heavy rainfall on June 29 and 30.

Punjab is likely to see heavy rainfall from June 30 to July 1. Haryana, Chandigarh, and Delhi may receive heavy rainfall from June 29 to July 1. The Gujarat region will witness isolated heavy rainfall on June 28 and July 1. Uttar Pradesh may have heavy rainfall from June 28 to 30, and East Rajasthan from June 29 to July 2.

Madhya Pradesh is expected to receive heavy rains on June 28 and 29. Odisha is likely to experience heavy rainfall from June 28 to 30. Arunachal Pradesh will see heavy rainfall from June 30 to July 2.

Isolated very heavy rainfall is likely over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim on June 28 and 30. Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura are expected to receive fairly widespread to widespread light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and isolated heavy rainfall over the next five days.

Meanwhile, the IMD stated that there won't be a significant change in maximum temperatures over most parts of the country.
