The state Congress has decided to take direct feedback of the local residents by taking secret feedback in constituencies where there are multiple candidates claiming ticket to contest the upcoming Assembly polls. The Congress had appointed division-wise observers who have already submitted a panel of three likely candidates in all 200 constituencies of Rajasthan.

The entire exercise of seeking feedback would be taken up again in as many as two dozen constituencies where there is a battle of supremacy among party heavyweights, all of whom are laying their claim on the party ticket and symbol. "It has been decided to go for a third party survey of these constituencies by observers who wouldn't be meeting the prospective candidates or their aides," a party office-bearer said. The said observers would be committing themselves to seek the feedback of the local residents, the issues they are facing, and the candidate that they would likely vote if fielded by the party.

The entire exercise would be carried out in confidence. Based on the feedback of the observers, the party would then screen the candidates and shortlist them. "The final names of these candidates shall be forwarded to the party high command that has been entrusted with the decision making on these controversial seats," an official said.

According to sources, many of the Jaipur seats are among the constituencies where the party would be sending in observers for reporting the winning candidate. "There is a tough contest for a ticket in Kishanpol, Adarsh Nagar, Malviya Nagar, Sanganer and Shahpura constituencies of Jaipur," an official said. These seats feature among the two dozen constituencies where the fresh survey shall be initiated by this weekend, the official added.

Other seats that could be surveyed again include Luni, Jaisalmer, Pali, Sirohi, Udaipur city, Gangapur City, Dausa and Fatehpur among others.
