Travel websites have been busy ranking the best beaches in the world. Here are two beaches that have won a lot of praise from people who have visited them. Among city beaches cheapflights.com has ranked Copacabana, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil as the best beach, while Rabbit Beach, Lampedusa, Islands of Sicily, tops the best city beaches list created by Tripadvisor. Here’s why this two beaches make for a great holiday destinations.

 

Copacabana
Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

No trip to Rio is complete without a stop at Copacabana.This two-and-a-half mile stretch of sand is busy with sunbathing, kite flying, rollerblading and loads of beach sports. The iconic black and white wave of the Copacabana promenade, which trails the length of the beach, is a hot spot for tourists and residents alike. From the beach there are great views of Sugarloaf Mountain, the Corcovado and the azure waters of the Atlantic Ocean. And if the sun gets too hot, there are plenty of places to cool off with a caipirinha (Brazil’s national cocktail). Other beaches to check out in and around Rio de Janeiro are Ipanema, Prainha Beach

 

Rabbit Beach
Lampedusa, Islands of Sicily

Rabbit Beach, on the island of Lampedusa off the south coast of Sicily, was described as an unspoiled nature reserve that can only be accessed by boat and one of the few places in the Mediterranean where loggerhead sea turtles go to lay their eggs. Rabbit Beach’s is clearly a big hit with travellers because of its stunning turquoise water and white sand. It can be only reached by boats and ferries. Lampedusa does have an airport and flights are available from Sicily and Italy. One can choose to hire a moped and take tour of the island to check the other beaches apart from Rabbit Beach. Also, there are boat trips around the island that take about four hours to complete.
