Prashant Mahakal, a 23-year-old who suffered a cut injury on his left leg in the Ghatkopar airplane crash, underwent an operation on Saturday. Mahakal was one of the three injured, who were taken to Rajawadi Hospital from the crash spot in Ghatkopar.

Earlier, he was asked to take bed rest for a month. He was shifted to the male orthopedic ward on Friday morning and underwent a tendon tear surgery on Saturday. Mahakal was supposed to join a new job from Friday.

Dr Vidya Thakur, medical superintendent of Rajawadi Hospital, said: "It was a minor tendon tear operation. He will require four to five days to heal. After a few days, we will be able to state when can he get a discharge."

As per Mahakal, he went on the spot to help the needy, but accidentally put his leg on an aluminum sheet of the broken plane. Due to this, he got a cut on his left leg and twisted his foot.

Pradeep Mahakal, brother of Prashant, said: "The operation went well. It took a few hours for the operation. He is recovering now and is in a stable condition."

Along with Mahakal (23), local residents Lavkush Kumar (21) and Naresh Nishad (24), both construction workers, were injured during the airplane crash in Ghatkopar on Thursday.

Out of the three injured, Lavkush, who suffered minor injuries, got discharged from the hospital on Friday. Naresh Nishad, who suffered burn injuries on his face and other parts of his body, has been told to undergo treatment at least for a month in the hospital.
