Popular television actor Nakuul Mehta was the latest guest in the third episode of the Be A Man Yaar series on We Are Yuvaa platform in which he reflect on his learnings about manhood and his journey towards becoming a better person. The Pyaar Ka Dard Hai Meetha Meetha Pyaara Pyaara actor also shared his thoughts on how masculinity has been represented on the big screen.

"Pop-culture and films have somewhat spoiled the definition of what it means to be a man. And while Salim-Javed were phenomenal writers...Salim-Javed, Bachchan, that era of the ’70s really showed us what we shouldn’t be. Mard ko dard nahi hota (boys don’t cry)...Bachchan’s roles were so aspirational, and it fed into this image of what it means to be a man. I was a fan of Shashi Kapoor, always. While you can’t take your eyes off Bachchan in Deewar, Bachchan works because of the dignity that Shashi Kapoor’s character brings. The truth, the dignity, the vulnerability, the strength that he brings", Nakuul said.

The actor added, "Unfortunately, women have to play that to us in real life. I have always admired Shashi Kapoor in that sense of what he brought. And I have seen all those qualities people around me have, my sister, my mother, my mother-in-law whom I am very, very close to. I feel because women allow you to come in and feel their world. Whilst I find it very hard to do that in real life, I try my best to do it on screen."

Meanwhile, on the work front, Nakuul Mehta was last seen in Bade Acche Lagte Hain 3, along with Disha Parmar, after both of them quit the show in its second season in December 2022. The third season only ran for 57 episodes from May to August 2023.
