The monsoon has started receding and the change in weather can be witnessed with the dip in mercury level, especially in the morning.

Navi Mumbaikars on Wednesday experienced a little chill in the air, thanks to a breezy morning.

As per the Met department, the minimum temperature recorded on Wednesday morning was 23 degree Celsius.

The department also said that the breeze during the morning hours will continue for the next few days, with a few spells of rain.

Though Mumbai and Navi Mumbai experience a short winter season, and that too without a major drop in the temperature, residents do feel the slight chill in the air and eagerly look forward to the months of November to January.

Jogging is part of the city tradition, thanks to several dedicated jogging tracks, especially along the landmark Palm Beach Road.

Sunil BS, a resident of Vashi, says this is the perfect time to start jogging. “The change in weather has already started and now joggers can look ahead to a longer period of jogging till January,” says Sunil. He jogs for at least two hours daily along the Mini Seashore in Vashi.

Susmita Rajan, a Nerul resident, says that the waiting period for the right weather to jog is over. “With a little precaution, one can start jogging as the weather is changing, but we have to be a little careful,” says Rajan.

She adds that cold weather doesn’t mean that we have to get rid of the treadmill, but it would be fair to put on your jogging shoes and hit the track.

Besides jogging, cycling is also preferred by many joggers. “An activity that has always thrived alongside jogging is cycling,” says Rishi Raj, an ardent cyclist and Juinagar resident who is also a state-level cyclist.

“The joy of cycling doubles during this time of the year, as the air is less humid,” he adds.
Talking about the benefits of jogging during this time, Raj says, “Joggers can enjoy for a longer period of time. Also, the fresh air help to heal lung problems.”

Fortunately for Navi Mumbaikars, the city offers a number of parks, and even the picturesque Palm Beach Road, where many people can be seen sweating it out already.

There are around 175 parks under Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation jurisdiction, and residents would be well advised to make full use of them.

“Initially, we do some running and then we stroll along the Palm Beach Road. The road is normally calm in the morning and we also get fresh air, as the backwaters are near,” says Sapna Charan, a resident of NRI colony.
