Many actors who gained fame at an early age, later quit the industry for some or other reasons. One such actor, who became a star at 15, later quit films due to an accident. The actor we are talking about started working at the age of 4, made his debut at 15 and became an overnight star. However, he is now away from the limelight. He is none other than Harish Kumar

Harish Kumar started his career at the age of 4 and even won the Nandi Award for the best child Actor of the year 1983 from then Chief Minister Late N. T. Rama Rao for the film Andhra Kesari. He then got his first lead role at the age of 13 in the film Daisy, a Malayalam film directed by Pratap Pothen. The movie also starred Kamal Haasan.

Later at the age of 15, Harish Kumar starred in the Telugu film Prem Khaidi, which went on to be a huge success at the box office. The director of the film then decided to make it in Hindi as well with the name Prem Qaidi. The film starred Harish Kumar alongside Karisma Kapoor and went on to be a success at the box office thus making him an overnight star.

After this, there was no looking back for the actor. He worked with many Legendary stars of India like Rajinikanth, Kamal Haasan, Chiranjeevi, Govinda, Mithun Chakraborty, Akkineni Nageswara Rao, Dharmendra, and Jeetendra. Some of his memorable films include Coolie No. 1, Tirangaa, Prema Khaidi, Kranti Kshetra, Ravan Raaj: A True Story.

In his career, Harish Kumar starred in over 280 films, however, there was a time when stopped getting work in the industry despite achieving immense success. Due to a sudden increase in obesity, stopped getting work, as per a report in Dainik Bhaskar. As Harish gained weight, his looks changed and he stepped away from the limelight. There is no concrete information about what happened to him.

After his film, Inteqam in 2001, Harish Kumar vanished from the industry. Later when he was asked about the same, the actor cited personal reasons for leaving the industry. The actor said, “I suffered... major back injury which left me bedridden, which also became my reason to leave showbiz.”

According to reports when doctors were consulted, they revealed that Harish Kumar had suffered a spinal injury in his childhood, the same injury kept increasing with time and then he became a victim of a slip disc. His condition forced him to quit work and gain weight.

He did try to make a comeback to showbiz but all of his films flopped at the box office. He was last seen in the 2018 film Aa Gaya Hero. The actor is now away from the showbiz and lives in Mumbai with his wife and two sons.
