Rahul Dravid makes bold move after BCCI announces Rs 125 crore cash reward for T20 World Cup winners, refuses..

Rahul Dravid, the T20 World Cup-winning coach of the Indian cricket team, has refused to accept the extra Rs 2.5 crore bonus by the BCCI. For the unversed, BCCI had announced a Rs 125 crore reward for the Indian squad and support staff after the team won the T20 World Cup 2024. In this, Rahul Dravid and the 15 members of the squad were to get Rs 5 crore and the support staff were allotted Rs 2.5 crore each. The selectors and the traveling members were given Rs 1 crore each.

Rahul Dravid, in a humane gesture, however, has refused the BCCI's reward of an extra Rs 2.5 crore. He instead asked the cricketing body to divide the sum equally with the support staff including bowling coach Paras Mhambrey, fielding coach T Dilip, and batting coach Vikram Rathore.

A BCCI source was quoted by Hindustan Times as saying, "Rahul wanted the same bonus money (Rs 2.5 crore) as the rest of his support staff (bowling coach Paras Mhambrey, fielding coach T Dilip and batting coach Vikram Rathore). We respect his sentiment."

Let us tell you that this is the second time that Dravid has won people's hearts with such a gesture. During the U-19 World Cup 2018 when Dravid was the head coach, BCCI decided to reward him with Rs 50 lakhs and the rest of the squad with Rs 20 lakh each, however, even then, Dravid requested BCCI to distribute the reward equally. 

Rahul Dravid has parted ways with Team India after helping them win the T20 World Cup. BCCI has now appointed former India cricketer Gautam Gambhir as India's head coach.
