Many actors who despite making a blockbuster debut, fail to make a mark in films and now with the increase in popularity of OTT, many actors are making a comeback and becoming popular. One such actor who made a blockbuster debut, became a star only after an OTT show.

The actor we are talking about is currently impressing everyone with his performance in one of the year's most anticipated shows. He is none other than Anjumm Shharma, who is garnering praise for his performance in Mirzapur 3.

Anjumm Shharma revealed in an interview that he started his career working in production and later as an assistant director and asked if his parents were worried about him taking acting as a career and said, "They were definitely concerned and worried. I started doing a job in the post-production department, which was followed by my trying my hand at being an assistant director. After that, I told them that I was interested in acting. From that day, a year and a half, it was tough for me to convince them that I could be decent in the work that I would like to do. When they saw me working after a few years and my interest in my work, they were convinced."

Anjumm Shharma made his debut in the Oscar-winning film Slumdog Millionaire wherein he played the small role of an employee in a call centre. The film starring Dev Patel, Anil Kapoor, and Irrfan Khan among others turned out to be a blockbuster and collected Rs 1600 crore worldwide at the box office. However, the actor revealed in an interview, that the film had no impact on his career.

He revealed how he bagged the role and said, "My first movie was Slumdog Millionaire. I was told by someone that at some random address auditions were happening for a small-budget English film. I went and auditioned for the main part. Later the age of that character was reduced and I didn't fit the character. It was only possible after 2-3 months when I received a call from Loveleen Tandon, one morning that there was one scene in the film, which would suit me and would I like to do it. She told me to do it just as an experience. There was nothing much in the role. I did it for an experience and wanted to buy a camera from the money I was getting paid."

The actor, after two years of his debut, starred in the movie Once Upon A Time in Mumbai, David, and Wazir. However, none of them brought him the fame and recognition he was looking for. In 2018, his life changed when he bagged the hit show Mirzapur. The show made him a star on OTT and after that, he was seen in several shows like Made In Heaven and Sultan of Delhi. He is currently winning hearts with his performance as Sharad Shukla in Mirzapur season 3.
