While speaking about his experience of working in the film, Ashok said, “The story of the film was pitched to me in 2015. The director is a good friend of mine, we know each other since college. So when he pitched it, I really liked it. Instantly said, yes I will do it.” On being asked about his favourite memory from the set of Por Thozhil, the actor said, “gun scene from the climax is engraved in my memory. The way I had to handle the gun required a certain amount of expertise. So the director was worried I might not make it look convincing. So I was like give me some time, I will practice and come up with it. So when I did that, all of us felt something at that moment. When the stunt master shouted ‘wow’ without saying cut, that was the moment. So now after the film released, everyone talked about that scene, that moment is very satisfying.”

The actor further talked about his personal life and revealed that his maternal uncle’s death changed him as a person. He stated, “The death of my maternal uncle ‘my mama’, he was a hero to me while growing up. He had a cardiac arrest. You are playing with this guy a day before your school, you were playing with this guy before going to school in the morning. And then you get a call in school saying ‘he is dead’ was very unbelievable at that time. I was in 9th standard and couldn’t really understand how this happened because you see someone in morning before leaving for school and you get a call saying ‘he is not more’ you have to come to the hospital. It was quite a life-changing. It really shook me because he was my role model, my hero. I used to play with him. I think that was the moment that really changed me.”

Talking about the film, produced by Applause Entertainment in association with E4 Experiments & Eprius Studio, the movie is helmed by debutant director Vignesh Raja. With stellar performances from Sarath Kumar, Ashok Selvan, and Nikhila Vimal, Por Thozhil is written by Vignesh Raja and Alfred Prakash.
