JMM leader Hemant Soren took oath as Jharkhand Chief Minister at 5 pm on Thursday in Raj Bhavan. The JMM chief was sworn in as the 13th CM of the state. He was recently released on bail after five months by the high court in a land scam case. Governor CP Radhakrishnan administers him the oath to office.

Hemant Soren staked claim to form the government on Wednesday after Champai Soren resigned as Jharkhand chief minister. A JMM-led alliance delegation met Governor Radhakrishnan at Raj Bhavan on Wednesday. The delegation headed by Hemant Soren comprised Congress state unit president Rajesh Thakur, RJD minister Satyanand Bhokta and CPI(ML)-L MLA Vinod Singh.
