The NCP (SP) has announced a strategic shift for the upcoming assembly polls following its performance in the recent Lok Sabha elections. Party supremo Sharad Pawar held discussions with party officials and urged MPs and MLAs to gear up for the state elections, emphasising a different electoral scenario compared to the national polls.

Pawar met with Pune city and district functionaries, as well as MLAs and newly-elected MPs, to assess the current political landscape. He signaled a departure from the Lok Sabha strategy, where NCP (SP) contested fewer seats to uphold the alliance with Shiv Sena (UBT) and Congress.

The state NCP (SP) leadership, including Prashant Jagtap and Jayant Patil, echoed Pawar's sentiments, stressing the importance of alliance dynamics.

While specific seat-sharing details remain undecided, the party is preparing for a more assertive presence in the assembly elections with ongoing evaluations of key constituencies. Tensions within the party's factions, especially post-Lok Sabha results, were also addressed, indicating strategic recalibrations ahead.
