Australian spin legend Shane Warne’s personal life has been in the limelight and most often for the wrong reasons. In January this year there were reports that Warne who joined a dating application Tinder, got in touch with 43-year-old Kim McGrath, a mother of two from Adelaide. McGrath revealed in Women’s Day magazine about the ‘wild sex romp’, they had in a hotel room in Adelaide.

Talking of Tinder, Warne in a report from The Times revealed that most women he messages don’t believe that he is really the ‘Shane Warne’, who is a cricket superstar.

The 45-year-old, who once dated celebrity Elizabeth Hurley, was quoted as saying, “People say, ‘Why are you trying to impersonate Shane Warne?’ I go, ‘OK, yeah, I am.’ And then they go, ‘No! It’s really you!’ And you go, ‘OK, it is.’ And then they go, ‘No, it’s not!’ So I’m on there for the fun value.”

Warne admitted that he was not exactly trying to find the love of his life but he spoke about his loneliness. (Related story: The one thing common to Shane Warne and Demi Moore that you may not have known)

“People say, ‘What’s very single?’ I say, ‘I’m just very single.’ That’s what it means. As in absolutely single.”

“I’m not looking for it (love). But if it happens, it happens. I’ve got three wonderful kids; I’m having fun; I don’t feel like I need it. But it gets quite lonely at times. When you travel all the time. There’s one or two nights a week when you haven’t got your kids and you haven’t got your mates, and you just want to chill. It’s nice to share things with someone. Say how you’re feeling about things, how their day was. Cuddling up on the couch. I like that stuff,” added Warne.

Warne has two teenage daughters, Brooke, 17, Summer, 14, and a son, Jackson, 16, by his ex-wife, Simone Callahan. The couple divorced in 2007. In December 2013, Warne and Hurley split, and the former blamed it on scheduling as the reason. While Hurley travelled to America for work reasons, Warne often travelled to Australia to meet his kids.

Speaking of his Tinder experiences, he said he has been on two dates organised though the app and said, “One was horrific. It was just bad. Bad.”

On Saturday, Warne posted about the story on Instagram:

“Haven’t read the story yet, only seen this pic ! How did it come up ? Did Polly do a good job ? I hope so, as I enjoyed her company & the chat…. #saturdaytimes“
