Village defence committee member repulses militant attack

In a brave act, a Village Defence Committee (VDC) member today repulsed a militant attack on his house in Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir, police said.

A group of militants attacked the house of Raj Kumar in village Daroti in Kalakote tehsil of Rajouri district.
   
When Kumar did not open the door, the ultras showered a hail of bullets which was retaliated by the VDC member. The intermittent exchange of fire continued for about an hour, they said, adding the militants later escaped.

In 2006 also, Kumar had survived a similar attack in his village which left five VDC members dead.
