There are several child actors, who gave hits alongside superstars, but, after making their solo debut, they failed to impress the audience and quit the industry. However, one such child artistes, who became popular after his debut film, later quit acting and is now set to make a comeback as a villain. The actor we are talking about became famous as Bollywood's chocolate boy in the 90s, however, he left acting after 40 of his films got shelved. He is none other than Jugal Hansraj.

Jugal Hansraj debuted as a child artiste in the 1983 film Masoom, which starred Naseeruddin Shah and Shabana Azmi. Later on, he continued his career as a child actor in films like Karma (1986) and Sultanat (1986). Hansraj was also featured as a model for TV and print as a child. In 1994, Jugal made his debut as a lead actor in the movie  Aa Gale Lag Jaa wherein in paired alongside Urmila Matondkar. The film was an average grosser. He revealed that after his debut film he signed 35-40 films together, however, later all of them got shelved. The actor then starred in the movie Papa Kehte Hai, which though flopped at the box office, it later became a cult classic. He gained fame as the chocolate boy of Bollywood.

Talking about his films being shelved, Jugal Hansraj said, "I signed my first film as an adult in 1989 for Manmohan Desai, which was my comeback into acting but it never started and throughout my career, that has happened a lot. Till today, about 35 to 40 of the projects that I signed, never took off. In the last 30 years, that’s really a lot,” he reveals, adding, “I’d have done a lot more work, but it didn’t start. It’s not like I was not interested but what can one do if movies got shelved? I wish they started.”

He then gave his first successful film Mohabbatein alongside Shah Rukh Khan and Amitabh Bachchan. The film was a major hit. However, after this film, Jugal Hansraj was only seen in guest appearances in the movies. He quit acting and later directed a film Roadside Romeo which won a National Award for Best Animated Film. He also penned a book for children.

Now, Jugal Hansraj is set to make his full-fledged comeback on the big screen with Pooja Bhatt and Suniel Shetty's action thriller. He is set to play the role of a villain in the movie. The actor was last seen in Bade Miyan Chote Miyan in a small role, however, even that film failed to impress the audience. It will be interesting to see if Jugal Hansraj can win hearts as a villain.
