Salil Parekh, CEO of Infosys, is the second-highest paid chief executive officer (CEO) of an Indian IT company. Based on compensation information gathered from annual reports, he was paid Rs 66.25 crore in FY24. Salil has worked in the IT services sector for almost thirty years on a global scale. Salil trails only Thierry Delaporte, the former CEO of Wipro, who took home USD 20 million (roughly Rs 166 crore) in FY24. Delaporte started a five-year contract with Wipro in June 2020, but he left in April of this year. Delaporte had spent 25 years as the Capgemini Group's Chief Operating Officer (COO) prior to this. 

In the meantime, Parekh's pay rose in FY24 mostly as a result of his increased exercise of restricted stock units (RSUs), an employee equity compensation option. From the exercise of his RSUs, he received Rs 39.03 crore. Parekh received Rs 7 crore in base pay, Rs 47 lakh in retirement benefits, and Rs 7.47 crore in variable pay or bonuses out of the Rs 66.25 crore total compensation for FY24.  Parekh received compensation of Rs 56 crore in FY23 as opposed to Rs 71 crore in FY22.
 
Parekh took over as the company's CEO in January 2018. He is an IIT Bombay alumnus. Aeronautical Engineering is his degree. The 59-year-old is also a graduate of Cornell University with a Master of Engineering degree in Mechanical and Computer Science. He previously worked in the consulting divisions of Ernst & Young and Capgemini before joining Infosys.
