After a triumphant victory over Afghanistan in the first Super match, led by Rohit Sharma, India is gearing up to face Bangladesh, led by Najmul Hossain Shanto, in the ongoing ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2024. The highly anticipated match is set to take place at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in Antigua and Barbuda's Saint George.
For the Indian cricket team, this match is crucial as they aim to secure a spot in the semi-finals. On the other hand, Bangladesh is facing a must-win situation after their previous Super 8 encounter with Australia ended in a 28-run loss.
In their history of T20 matches, India has dominated Bangladesh with 12 victories out of 13 matches, while Bangladesh has only managed to secure one win. However, in T20 World Cup tournaments, India has emerged victorious in all four encounters.
Shakib smashes a six over long on! He punishes a low full toss with a lofted shot. However, Kuldeep makes a strong comeback on the next ball. Shakib attempts another lofted shot but ends up slicing it, leading to an easy catch for Rohit inside the circle.
Six runs! Litton moves across and smashes the short-pitched delivery over mid-wicket. Unfortunately, he tries the same shot again but this time the ball is wider and slower. Litton ends up getting caught out at deep square leg.
Hardik swung hard on the leg-side, but unfortunately, he only managed to get an outside edge that sent the ball to the deep third boundary for four runs. He then expertly sliced the ball away, beating the wicketkeeper to find the boundary once again. The next delivery was too wide outside off and was called a wide, resulting in another extra in the final over. Hardik swung at a delivery into the pitch on the leg-side, but missed. However, he redeemed himself by hitting a boundary to end the innings and also reaching his fifty off just 27 balls.
Six runs! The ball was pitched wide outside off, and Hardik smashed it over cover for a six that sailed over the boundary rope. Another four runs! The ball was wide once again, and Hardik wasted no time in slapping it through cover for a boundary.
SIX! Pant confidently steps out and smashes the ball over midwicket for a maximum, causing his bottom hand to come off the bat handle in his signature style. FOUR! He elegantly sweeps the ball to the boundary behind deep square-leg. Unfortunately, Pant's impressive innings comes to an end as he reverse sweeps the ball straight to short third man.
Kohli charges down the track, attempts a big shot, but completely misses the ball, which then crashes into the stumps. The fielding team appeals for a caught behind, and the umpire raises his finger! Surya is out after scoring just six runs off two balls.
The cover fielder misfielded slightly inside the circle, allowing Kohli to take a single. Pant then pushed the ball towards deep fine leg for another single. And then, Kohli smacked the ball towards midwicket for a massive six!
Mahedi Hasan, the off-spinner, is starting off the bowling for Bangladesh against India. He bowls a half-volley to start, and Rohit Sharma hits it over mid-off for a double. Hasan then adjusts his length and Rohit plays a defensive shot towards the leg side. On the third ball, Rohit manages to sneak a single towards long on. Boundary on last ball.

Nazmul: We would like to bowl first, we would like to restrict them to a small total and that is the plan. We know the conditions here and also about the wind factor. Looks a good wicket. 150-160 will be a good score I reckon. We have one change. Taskin is not playing.
Rohit: We wanted to bat and that's what we got. Looks like a good wicket and depends on how much the sun is beating down and making the pitch slow. Important to assess the conditions quickly. We are playing the same team.
Bangladesh was feeling confident after making it to the Super 8, but their loss against Australia may have taken some wind out of their sails. However, they are looking forward to facing their strong Asian neighbors with a sense of freedom. Despite the lackluster performance of their top-order batters, Bangladesh's middle-order players and bowlers have been the ones carrying the team to this promising position. Najmul Hossain's team will need to secure a win in this game if they want to advance past the Super 8 stage.
Once again, finger spinners are expected to shine in these conditions. India has made it clear that they have no intention of changing the opening duo of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, so it's unlikely that there will be any adjustments to the team lineup. Shivam Dube's performance might be questioned, but it seems like he will continue to be given opportunities, especially since Bangladesh has a number of spinners in their squad.
