The actress we are talking about went against the wishes of her family, struggled for months before getting her first break, and then became a star with her debut. She is none other than Shalini Pandey.
Shalini Pandey revealed that she wanted to be an actress, however, her father wanted her to become an engineer. However, she left her home for films. She told media at an event, "My papa wanted me to do engineering. I even tried it, but I wasn't able to do it. And my papa just wouldn't agree to let me try acting. I was trying to convince him for 4 years. So I planned that I should just run away. Now it seems like a joke but at that time it was very difficult. So I ran away."
When she came to Mumbai, she didn't have a place to live. Though she had two girlfriends in Mumbai, but couldn't live with them for some reason and thus had to share a room with boys. However, she revealed in an interview that those boys became her family and even after she moved to Hyderabad following her debut film, she still cherishes their friendship.
Shalini Pandey got her first-ever break in films with Sandeep Reddy Vanga's Arjun Reddy. The film also starred Vijay Deverakonda and emerged to be a blockbuster. The film made Shalini a star and after this, her parents sided with her decision to be an actress. The success of her debut film was followed by another superhit film Mahanati starring Keerthy Suresh.
She made her Bollywood theatrical debut alongside Ranveer Singh in Jayeshbhai Jordaar. However, the film failed to make a mark at the box office. The actress is now going viral for her performance in Netflix and YRF's film Maharaj. Some of the fans feel she has a striking resemblance with Alia Bhatt.
