'Lost my uterus, lost my...': TMC leader Mahua Moitra attacks BJP in Parliament

Trinamool Congress MP Mahua Moitra recently criticised the central government for suspending her from the last Lok Sabha session. She claimed that her expulsion cost the BJP 63 seats in the recent general election.

Moitra was expelled from the Lok Sabha last December due to cash-for-query allegations. Speaking in a Parliament discussion on Monday, she said, “Much like Lord Krishna protected Draupadi, the people of Krishnanagar have protected me.” 

She shared that many people thought she had lost much, including her Lok Sabha membership and her house in Delhi. She also mentioned losing her uterus to surgery. However, she emphasised, “You know what I gained? Freedom from fear.”

She added, “I do not fear you. Your ED, CBI, income-tax department, trolls, media, and bought-out judges cannot scare us.”

Additionally, Moitra challenged the government’s claims about women empowerment. She accused the BJP of delaying women's reservation in Parliament because they fear strong women. “There are just 74 women MPs this time, with the BJP having only 30 out of 240. In contrast, the TMC had 37 percent women MPs last time and 38 percent this time,” she stated.
