Within a year of inauguration, the building of the only senior secondary school in Sanoth village of Outer Delhi area is already in shambles. More than 740 students are exposing themselves daily to hazardous conditions by attending classes in this building that's wearing out and has visible cracks in roofs and walls.

Residents of the village allege corruption in the construction of this government school building that was inaugurated in January this year. "Poor quality construction material was used while construction. Even the principal of the school had refused to shift students from the old building to the newly constructed building at that time saying that condition of building was not good. But after a few weeks, we heard that the principal of the school was transferred and the school was shifted later on,” explains Samrat, a local resident.

Samrat further informs that he had written several letters to concerned authorities requesting them to inspect the building but did not get any reply and the building was inaugurated.

"We want action against the corrupt officials and contractor. Besides, he whole building should be demolished and re-constructed. Putting students' lives at risk cannot be justified and building can collapse anytime. Those found guilty should be put behind bars," demands Lalit a youth from Sanoth.

Residents demand faster probe and punishment of the guilty in the matter as they suspect that authorities might be approached to ignore the issue.
