An unknown spectator flashed a laser pen at Denmark goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel's face during his side's semi-final clash against England in Euro 2020. The incident happened in the extra time, moments before England captain Harry Kane was to take a penalty.

Although Schmeichel saved the penalty before Kane scored on the rebound to take his side into the lead, the goalkeeper wasn't aware of the distraction attempt.

England won the game in the extra time by 2-1 to qualify for their first final since the 1966 World Cup.

However, the penalty itself, which was awarded to England was a contentious decision, one which Denmark manager Kasper Hjulmand was certainly not happy with.

Raheem Sterling appeared to lose his balance during the extra time of the game and burst into the penalty area, following Joakim Maehle's challenge. England winger after that eventually fell to the ground after a nudge from Denmark player Mathias Jensen.

Talking about the penalty decision after the game, Jhulmand said, "We're very, very disappointed, and it's hard for me to talk about. Maybe it will be easier for me to say how I feel in a few days. We're just very disappointed that we were so close to the final. We're disappointed it was decided that way... it was a penalty that shouldn't have been a penalty, and that annoys me right now. We're disappointed, we're very disappointed.

"It's one thing to lose a game, that happens, but losing this way is just a disappointment because these guys have fought a lot. It's bitter, I think we have to digest this before we can describe these feelings, but it's a bitter way to leave a tournament,” Hjulmand added.
