But if new reports are to be trusted, a prominent actress has been replaced from a film after being diagnosed with cancer, a move that has not gone down too well with her fans.
The actress removed from a film due to cancer
Popular TV actress Hina Khan was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer late last month. The actress shared the diagnosis on social media herself on June 28. She shared her statement on Instagram, informing fans about the diagnosis and stating that she is prepared to fight the illness. Now, reports have claimed that Hina has been ousted from a film titled Rapchik Rita, in which she was slated to play a pivotal role. As per News 18, Hina has been ousted from the film after her cancer diagnosis and the makers are now looking to rope in Adah Sharma as a replacement.
The backlash to Hina’s alleged ouster from Rapchik Rita
Rapchik Rita is an action comedy and is said to be slated to get a direct OTT release on Disney+ Hotstar either later this year or early in 2025. After the news of Hina being replaced from the film broke, many fans took to social media to express their disappointment. A Twitter user wrote, “She (Hina) is battling cancer, can't wait for her to recover? This is cruel.” Another netien tagged Disney Plus Hotstar and wrote, “Shame on you.” Even Adah Sharma, her supposed replacement in the film, copped some trolling on social media.
Hina Khan’s cancer battle
On June 28, Hina shared her cancer diagnosis on social media in the form of a long note. “I want to share some important news with all the Hinaholics and everyone who loves and cares for me. I have been diagnosed with Stage Three Breast Cancer. Despite this challenging diagnosis, I want to reassure everyone that I am doing well. I am strong, determined, and fully committed to overcoming this disease. My treatment has already begun, and I am ready to do everything necessary to emerge from this even stronger (sic),” she wrote.
A week later, the actress posted a video where she cut her own hair before her chemotherapy began. “I know it’s hard, I know for most of us, our hair is the crown we never take off. But what if you’re facing a battle so tough that you have to lose your hair—your pride, your crown? If you want to win you’ve got to take some tough decisions. And I choose to win,” she wrote in a caption alongside the video. The actress has been praised by fans and industry colleagues for her attitude in battling the cancer.
