India cricket legend Kapil Dev has ignited a new discussion surrounding Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, praising the current India skipper for his self-awareness and ability to maintain team morale.

Kapil, who was recently named President of the Professional Golf Tour of India, drew comparisons ahead of India's 2024 T20 World Cup semi-final against England, where Rohit serves as captain. He also noted that Rohit's demeanor differs from Virat Kohli's, as he remains composed and level-headed.

"He (Rohit Sharma) is not like Virat Kohli, he does not jump around. He knows his limitations, but within those limitations, he performs the best," said Kapil, lavishing praise on Rohit.

Kapil Dev, India's 1983 World Cup-winning captain, spoke highly of Rohit's leadership skills.

"A big tick in favour of Rohit Sharma is that he keeps the entire team happy," said Kapil. "There are many great players who play for themselves, take the captaincy for themselves, but not him," he added.

Kapil also praised Rohit's impressive ability to hit the ball all over the park, even though he may not have the same six-pack physique as Kohli.

"If Virat Kohli can lift 150 kg and 250kg dumbbells, that doesn't mean Rohit should do the same. It seems like Rohit knows his game very well. He plays within himself. He is not like Virat Kohli and doesn't jump around. Rohit is aware of his limitations and there is no one better than him in that respect, not even Virat," Kapil said in an ABP News show.

Rohit Sharma enters the semi-final match against England with an impressive performance, having scored 92 runs off 41 balls in the Super 8 stage of the 2024 T20 World Cup against Australia. His exceptional batting skills led India to victory. However, his opening partner, Virat Kohli, has been struggling to find form, managing only 66 runs in six innings so far.

India is set to face England in the semi-final, with hopes of overcoming the bitter memories of the 2022 T20 World Cup. In the previous tournament, England had defeated India by 10 wickets on their way to claiming the championship. India is determined to avenge that loss and emerge victorious in this crucial match.
