India delivered a resounding performance in their revenge match against defending champions England in the second semi-final of the T20 World Cup 2024 in Guyana on Thursday, June 27. Led by Rohit Sharma, the Men in Blue outplayed England, who appeared lost and ineffective throughout the match. This victory marked India's first appearance in a T20 World Cup final in a decade, setting up a highly anticipated showdown with South Africa in Barbados on Saturday, June 29.

The match was a perfect opportunity for India to avenge their defeat in the previous T20 World Cup semi-final, where they were defeated by 10 wickets on a flat pitch in Adelaide. This time, India capitalized on England's weakness against spin on a slow pitch, securing a convincing 68-run victory at the Providence Stadium. Despite posting a total of 171, only three runs more than their previous encounter, India's bowlers proved too much for England, who were bowled out for 103 in 16.4 overs.

Rohit Sharma's confidence was evident from the outset, as he maintained that India would have chosen to bat first regardless of the toss result. England's decision to bowl first after winning the toss seemed influenced by overnight rain, but it ultimately backfired as India posted a challenging total of 171. This total proved to be well above par, considering the strength of India's bowling attack and the conditions of the pitch in Guyana.
