Leader of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), K Kavitha, filed bail requests in CBI and ED cases related to the now-deleted excise policy case. The Delhi High Court will rule on these requests today.

The decision will be made by a single judge panel led by Justice Swarna Kanta Sharma. The High Court bench decided to postpone making an order on May 28 after hearing arguments from all sides.

K Kavitha was represented in the case by Senior Advocate Vikram Chaudhari and Advocates Nitesh Rana, Mohit Rao, and Deepak Nagar. Advocate DP Singh argued the case for the CBI, and Advocate Zoheb Hossain represented the ED.

The CBI opposed the bail and said that additional research is necessary at this time due to a few key factors, such as the involvement of private citizens and other public servants as well as the inflow of illicit funds. The central probe agency contended that the BRS leader could sway the investigation if she was granted bail.

The Enforcement Directorate disagreed with the bail as well, stating that safeguarding the evidence or guaranteeing the accused's attendance at trial are insufficient conditions in a money laundering case.

Prior to this, the ED had filed a supplemental chargesheet in Rouse Avenue Court against BRS leader K. Kavitha and other accused parties in the excise policy case.

K Kavitha claimed in her bail motion that she is a mother of two children, one of whom is a minor who is currently in shock and receiving medical attention. She claimed that the ruling party was bringing her name up in the case.

K Kavitha was detained by the CBI on April 11 after being arrested by the ED on March 15.
