India on Saturday won the T20 World Cup 2024 trophy after defeating South Africa by 7 runs in the final, ending their 11-year ICC trophy drought. With Virat Kohli’s impressive knock of 76(59) and Hardik Pandya’s three-wicket haul, India registered their second T20 World Cup win in Barbados. Earlier, India under the guidance of MS Dhoni won the maiden season of the T20 World Cup in 2007.
After bagging the second T20 World Cup trophy, it also marks the end of an era as India skipper Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli announced their retirement from T20 Internationals.
Moreover, it’s also a special moment for India head coach Rahul Dravid who concludes his two-and-a-half-year tenure on a winning note. Under his tenure, India finished as the runner-up in the World Test Championship and the ODI World Cup last year.
To bid him farewell, Kohli, Rohit, and other players also tossed the India head coach in the air a few times in celebration.
