Ruckus ensued at Lourdes Convent School on Monday afternoon after school authorities forced parents to shift their children from Gujarat Board to CBSE Board. Parents accused the school authorities of threatening them for the transfer, while administration claimed that the issue was made clear during the admission process itself.

The tussle started during a meeting between school officials and parents of junior KG students. The officials asked parents to shift their children to the second school at Vesu, which offers CBSE board teaching. The officials allegedly threatened to issue transfer certificates to children if parents did not accept the demand.

This led to anger among parents, who tore the pamphlets given to them and later walked away from the meeting. Parents gathered outside the school and chanted slogans against the authorities.

"At the time of giving admission, the school authorities did not say that the teaching will be based on CBSE course and that too in a separate school. The new school will have co-education, which is not acceptable to many of us. Now, the school officials are forcing us to shift our children to the new school which is unjust,"
Ramesh Jain, one of the parents, said.

School authorities however, refuted claims that parents are being forced to transfer their children.

"More than 75% parents agreed that they would shift their children to CBSE board during the admission process. Now they are making excuses. We will take strict action against parents who resorted to rough behaviour during the meeting," sister Diana, principal of Lourdes, said.
