Honda City 2020, the fifth generation of a familiar car, i.e. the Honda City, has just made its debut in Thailand and will soon make its way into the Indian markets in 2020. The new car sports a number of new features, a dazzling new look, and a spacier cabin, among other things. So if you are wondering what the new features of the new Honda City 2020 will be like, look no further, for here is a breakdown:

Dimensions

The new Honda City 2020 is 100mm longer, 53mm wider and 28mm lower than its earlier model. Therefore, the new car is sporting a substantial size (as far as mid-range sedans are considered) while being a sleeker variant of the earlier Honda City.

Style

The new Honda City 2020 continues to sport the chrome band above its front grille that is the signature of the Honda City, Civic and Amaze cars. The new model even has wraparound headlights which are sharper-looking and also sports LED projectors and day-time saving lamps. At the rear, the new model has elongated tail lamps with built-in LED lights.

Coming to the interior, the Honda City 2020 has an all-new dashboard layout. The outgoing City's asymmetrical dashboard layout has been replaced by a more conventional-design console. When it debuts in India, market commentators predict that it could sport a beige-on-black design in the interior. Six airbags provide adequate safety - they are placed as follows: dual front, dual front side and dual curtain airbags. It also sports latest technological additions like a multi-angle rear-view camera and hill start assist.

Under the Hood

The new Honda City 2020 for India will have a 1.5-lire diesel engine along with a 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine variant, made for 122hp and 173Nm of torque. According to reports, the sole transmission available for this engine is a CVT gearbox with paddle shifters offered on higher variants. It will be upgraded for BS6 emissions.

Competition

Since Honda City 2020 is presumed to be launched in India in mid-2020, it will compete with rival mid-range sedans sporting similar builds like the new Hyundai Verna, Skoda Rapid and Maruti Suzuki Ciaz.

Final Thoughts

The Honda City 2020 will be a car that will have tough competition but is expected to bankroll on its good image in India, where the outgoing Honda City model is one of the bestselling cars in the entire country. It will have to be seen if the car can make its mark in a market where sedans are quickly falling out of vogue.
