The debut film of Aamir Khan's son Junaid Khan, Maharaj, is now streaming on Netflix, and netizens have shared their opinions about the controversial film. Soon after the interim stay was lifted by Gujarat HC, the movie became available for streaming. Hours after the release, several audience members took their thoughts to X (formerly Twitter), lauding the makers for narrating a piece of history that was untouched, and 'still relevant' to some extent
A netizen praised the film and wrote, "Watched #maharaj and really glad that this movie was made and so many topics dealt upon at once- casteism, rape, blind faith, and the fight for justice. What is sad is the movie based on something that happened in 1860s is still relevant in today's time. Great job @yrf @SharvariWagh14 @JaideepAhlawat Siddhart P Malhotra and Junaid Khan." Another netizen described Junaid's performance, and wrote, "In the initial scenes I was like oh he smiles like his father & he is being little clumsy but later on he made me forget all these and specially in the scenes with Jaideep Ahlawat and in the emotional breakdown scenes, Junaid's acting sparked like anything! Too good."
Here are the reactions
