From Amitabh Bachchan and Rajinikanth to Jackie Shroff, we often hear inspiring stories of their struggles. Their life journeys motivate us and show that nothing is impossible. Today, we will talk about one such actress who once cleaned floors and wiped off vomit, but later became one of India’s top actresses.

We are talking about Raveena Tandon, the daughter of filmmaker Ravi Tandon and Veena Tandon. She faced her own set of struggles before making it big in the industry, despite coming from a film background.

Started as a cleaner in the industry

While speaking to The Times of India, she started with sweeping floors and wiping vomit, the actress mentioned, “That is true. I started by cleaning the studio floors to wiping off vomit from the stalls floors and studio floors and stuff, and I assisted Prahlad Kakkar, I think straight out of 10th Standard. Even at that time, they used to say what are you doing behind the screen? You have to be in front of the screen; that is what’s meant for you, and I would be like, ‘no, no, me, an actress? Never.’ So I am actually in this industry by default, never grew up thinking that I would be an actor."

The actress received her first big break with the film Patthar Ke Phool, starring Salman Khan. The film became a commercial success and marked a significant breakthrough for Raveena Tandon, catapulting her to stardom overnight. Although her subsequent films experienced moderate success at the box office, her Telugu debut, Bangaru Bullodu, emerged as a major hit.

When she was replaced in films

In an interview with Siddharth Kannan, Raveena revealed, “I was replaced intentionally because this girl did not like me, was insecure about me. She was dating a hero at that time and forced him to replace me because we were a hit pair. Forced him to replace with other heroines. So I lost out on 1-2 films on that account."

During an interview, she said, “despite having such a great father, people tried to bury me, and reject me, but every time I fought back. This was never easy. And this really bothers me about this industry that a real talented person never gets the chance to prove themselves easily,” she says, adding, “I don’t appreciate the dirty politics that’s been going on in the industry for ages. In my 30-year-long career, I have seen so many people struggling to keep afloat and fight back. Some survive, some don’t and that’s so shattering to watch.”
