In addition, he holds an MTech in Industrial Management. Following this, he spent a year working for a firm in Gurugram, Haryana. After that, he quit his lucrative job and went back to Jaipur to be ready for the UPSC test. Rather than attending UPSC coaching, he was staying at home to prepare for the hardest test in the nation.

Ashish Kumar Singhal's mother, Sudha Agarwal, was a housewife, while his father, Ramesh Chandra Agarwal, was a government teacher. Singhal failed the UPSC test four times. In 2019, Ashish's first try at the mains exam ended in failure. Then, in 2020, he failed the preliminary exam as well. He was failed in the mains once again in 2021. His friends and relatives had begun to make fun of him by this point. Some believed that he was not cut out for this line of work. He didn't give up though, and in 2022 he retook the exam with his parents' help. However, he too lost the preliminary round in this.
